She planned to save time by leaving that original tape in place and then to follow up with a second row of blue tape to isolate the boot stripe for painting. There were just two things wrong with that plan: the top row would have trapped sanding grit and blue tape is not the Fine Line tape she really needed for a crisp boot stripe.
