Pictures of bungee cords keeping lids shut

Not all lids are made with a locking mechanism. The lids on our cockpit lazarettes come to mind. These lids are large, heavy, and awkward. Dick Thews must have grappled with them once too often. His clever modification holds the seat/lid safely open.

Dick was Mystic’s previous owner. When we got her 10 years ago, his solution was there: a bungee cord attached to the inside of the lid slips over a winch and holds the lid open. Simple. Elegant.

Protected from the sun most of the time, the same bungee Dick installed is still there to this day. Thanks, Dick.
