Parker Super Seal 27
Description
The Parker Super Seal 27 (also referred to as the Super Seal 27 or Super Seal 27 Series II) is a fast, lightweight lifting-keel cruiser-racer designed by Ron Holland and originally built by John Baker (as part of the earlier Super Seal lineage), with production transitioning to Parker Yachts (UK) (G.W. Parker & Son, Boston, Lincolnshire, England) around 1984–1987. It represents a Mark 2 evolution of the Ron Holland-designed Super Seal 26 (1981–1984), featuring GRP (fiberglass) construction, a lifting keel (daggerboard-style with cast iron elements for better performance and stability), fractional sloop rig, transom-hung rudder, and a practical 5-berth interior with sitting headroom (around 5'10"–6'), galley, and heads—optimized for high-speed coastal cruising, club racing, and shallow-water access (drying out upright). The design emphasizes lively handling, excellent light-air performance, and versatility, with the Parker-era builds incorporating minor refinements over the original Baker versions. Production was limited (Super Seal 27 hulls numbered approximately 113–131, totaling around 18–20 hulls in this specific phase), now long out of production but actively supported by the Parker & Seal Sailing Association; it was succeeded by the updated Parker 27 (1987–1990) with further internal tweaks and then the Parker 275.
