S2 9.2 Meter 'C' Center Cockpit

S2 9.2 Meter 'C' Center Cockpit

Description

The S2 9.2 Meter "C" Center Cockpit (also known as the S2 9.2C) is an American cruising sailboat designed by Arthur Edmunds as the center-cockpit variant of the popular S2 9.2 series, built by S2 Yachts in Holland, Michigan; introduced in 1977 and produced until 1987, with approximately 426 units constructed (compared to about 520 of the aft-cockpit "A" model, for a combined total around 946). The fiberglass monohull features a fin keel with skeg-mounted rudder (standard draft or optional shoal draft), masthead sloop rig, moderate displacement for stability and comfortable motion, and a spacious, practical interior optimized for family or extended coastal cruising, including a private aft owner's cabin with double berth and access via the center cockpit (providing excellent separation and privacy), forward V-berth, saloon dinette/settee convertible to berth, U-shaped galley opposite the head (moved aft near the cockpit), enclosed head, navigation area, and good headroom/storage; it offers solid build quality (lead ballast, often encapsulated), predictable and seakindly handling, good light-air performance from its generous sail area, easy single-handing, and a reputation for durability, value, and livability as a well-regarded "middle-of-the-road" cruiser with a somewhat boxy but functional superstructure compared to the sleeker aft-cockpit version.
