S2 8.0 Meter Aft Cockpit
Description
The S2 8.0 Meter Aft Cockpit (commonly referred to as the S2 8.0 B or S2 8.0 Meter B) is an American trailerable cruiser designed by Arthur Edmunds, built by S2 Yachts in Holland, Michigan; introduced in 1976 as an evolution of the earlier S2 8.0 A (1974-1975, ~40 built with a different deck/cabin), it was produced until 1983 with approximately 426 units constructed, making it one of the most prolific models from S2 emphasizing quality fiberglass construction, trailerability, and family cruising. The fiberglass monohull features a masthead sloop rig, fin keel with spade rudder (standard deep draft or optional shoal), and a practical interior with berths for four to six (V-berth forward, settees convertible to doubles, large aft quarter berth), compact galley, enclosed head, and good storage/headroom; it offers solid build quality with balsa-cored decks in later years, moderate performance suitable for coastal and lake sailing, good stability from its ballast ratio, responsive handling, and a reputation for durability and comfort as a pocket cruiser rather than a racer.
