The S2 8 Meter (also known as the S2 8.0 Meter or S2 26) refers to the family of 26-foot trailerable sailboats produced by S2 Yachts in Holland, Michigan, with the most common and longest-produced variant being the S2 8.0 B (aft cockpit), designed by Arthur Edmunds as a practical family cruiser emphasizing solid fiberglass construction, spacious interior volume from its wide beam, and balanced moderate performance for coastal, lake, or trailerable use rather than racing. Introduced in 1976 as an improved follow-on to the short-production S2 8.0 A (1974-1975, ~40 built with a shorter cabin), the 8.0 B ran through 1983 with approximately 426 units built, featuring a masthead sloop rig, fin keel with spade rudder (standard draft or optional shoal), inboard auxiliary (typically small diesel like Yanmar), and an accommodating layout with berths for four to six (V-berth forward, convertible settees, large aft quarter berth), compact galley, enclosed head, and good headroom/storage; a center-cockpit version (S2 8.0 C, 1975, ~210 built) also existed on the same hull but with different deck and interior for aft cabin privacy.
