S2 7.3 Meter (Grand Slam)
Description
The S2 7.3 (also known as the S2 7.3 Meter) is an American trailerable racer-cruiser sailboat designed by Arthur Edmunds and built by S2 Yachts in Holland, Michigan, from 1978 to 1987. Approximately ~200 units were produced, making it a popular choice for weekend warriors seeking a balance of speed, simplicity, and coastal cruising capability. The "7.3" refers to its approximate length in meters (24 feet LOA), and it's renowned for its solid fiberglass construction, spacious interior for its size, and forgiving handling—ideal for beginners transitioning from dinghies or for club racing. S2 Yachts, founded by industry legend Leon Slikkers after selling his powerboat company Slickcraft, emphasized quality control and efficiency, producing boats with hand-laid hulls and innovative features like the inward-turning hull-to-deck joint. The 7.3 was part of S2's early racer lineup, bridging their cruising roots with performance-oriented designs like the later S2 7.9.
