S2 11 Meter Aft Cockpit
Description
The S2 11.0 Meter Aft Cockpit (also known as the S2 11.0A) is an American cruising sailboat designed by Arthur Edmunds as the aft cockpit variant of the S2 11.0 series, built by S2 Yachts in Holland, Michigan; introduced in 1977 and produced until 1987, with approximately 156 units constructed (compared to about 66 of the center cockpit "C" model). It features a fiberglass hull with balsa-cored deck, fin keel with skeg-mounted rudder (or spade rudder in some descriptions), masthead sloop rig, and a practical, accommodating interior suited for coastal and extended cruising, including an oversized forward V-berth (often around 6'5" x 6'4"), generous quarter berth aft, U-shaped galley, navigation station opposite the galley, enclosed head, and saloon with settees; the design emphasizes balanced performance, moderate displacement for good stability and handling, light and responsive helm, solid construction with teak trim, and reliability, making it a durable racer-cruiser with classic lines, nice overhangs, and a reputation for seaworthiness in varied conditions rather than high-speed racing.
