Iona 32-MK2
Description
The Iona 32 Mk II (1988–1995) is a rare, high-performance cruiser-racer designed by Angus Primrose and built in small numbers by Offshore Yachts International (OYI) in Southampton, UK, as an updated and slightly larger development of the original Moody 33. With an LOA of 32 ft 6 in, beam 11 ft 6 in, fin keel (5 ft 3 in draft standard, 4 ft 6 in shoal option), 10,800 lb. displacement, and a tall masthead rig carrying 580 sq ft upwind (plus a big asymmetrical spinnaker), she was conceived as a fast, stiff, all-round family cruiser capable of crossing oceans yet nimble enough to win club races. Below she offers full standing headroom, a spacious aft-cockpit layout with walk-through to an enormous aft cabin (island double berth + en-suite head), a proper U-shaped galley, navigation station, and saloon that converts to sleep seven in comfort. Only about 35–40 Mk IIs were completed before OYI folded in the early 1990s recession, making her one of the most sought-after “modern classics” on the second-hand market today—prized equally for her sparkling performance (PHRF around 120–130)
