Andrews 30
Description
The Andrews 30 (often referred to as the Andrews 30 or Andrews 30 MORC/Custom) is a high-performance racing sailboat designed by renowned American naval architect Alan Andrews in the 1980s. Alan Andrews was known for fast, innovative designs that excelled in MORC (Midget Ocean Racing Club), PHRF, and later IMS/IRC rules—focusing on light-air speed, good all-around performance, and competitive edge for club racing or offshore events. These were typically custom or semi-custom builds (not a mass-produced model), constructed by yards like Wiggers Custom Yachts (Canada), Scorpio Yachts, or Dencho Marine (USA). Some early versions were slated as the Islander 30A but never went into full production due to the builder's issues. Later ones (mid-to-late 1980s) were built as dedicated MORC racers, with a few evolving for PHRF or one-design classes.
