Juan Kouyoumdjian, often referred to as Juan K, is an Argentine-born naval architect (b. 1971) based in Valencia, Spain, and one of the most influential yacht designers of the 21st century. Through his firm, Juan K Yacht Design, he has redefined performance sailing with cutting-edge, data-driven designs that dominate Volvo Ocean Race, America’s Cup, IMOCA 60, and IRC/ORC racing. His signature is blending hydrodynamic efficiency, lightweight materials, and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to create boats that are fast, stable, and versatile—often pushing rule boundaries while maintaining reliability.
