Olin Stephens

Olin Stephens was one of America's most celebrated yacht designers, co-founder of Sparkman & Stephens, and a dominant force in yacht design for over six decades. Born in 1908, Stephens revolutionized yacht design through scientific approach to hull forms, innovative construction techniques, and successful racing campaigns. His designs dominated offshore racing from the 1930s through the 1980s, including numerous America's Cup winners and successful ocean racing yachts. Stephens' work was characterized by beautiful proportions, excellent sailing performance, and innovative engineering that established new standards for yacht design.
