Bill Dyer
William Dyer founded The Anchorage, Inc. (later known as Dyer Boats) in 1930 in Rhode Island, becoming famous for producing quality dinghies and small sailboats. While primarily a builder, Dyer and his company created or adapted numerous small boat designs including the famous Dyer Dhow and Dyer 29. The company built boats designed by various designers including Philip Rhodes and became particularly known for high-quality dinghy construction. Dyer dinghies became the standard tender for many yachts due to their excellent construction and rowing/sailing characteristics. The company continues today, maintaining its reputation for quality small boat construction.
