John G. Alden Design Company, founded in 1909, is one of America's most prestigious yacht design firms. John Alden (1884-1962) established the company in Boston, becoming renowned for designing fast, seaworthy schooners and the famous 'Malabar' series of ocean racing yachts. The firm designed over 1,000 yachts including successful racers, comfortable cruisers, and commercial vessels. Notable designs include numerous Bermuda Race winners and classic schooners like Puritan and Sachem. After Alden's death, the company continued under various designers including Niels Helleberg and Carl Alberg. The firm's designs emphasize traditional New England craftsmanship, seaworthiness, and timeless aesthetics.
