C. Raymond Hunt

C. Raymond Hunt (1917-1978) was an innovative American naval architect who revolutionized powerboat design and contributed significantly to sailing yacht development. Hunt created the revolutionary deep-V hull form that transformed high-speed powerboat design, but also designed notable sailboats including the Concordia yawl series. Working with Waldo Howland, Hunt designed the beautiful Concordia 39 and 41 yawls in the 1940s, which became classics of American yacht design. These boats combined traditional New England aesthetics with modern performance, featuring elegant lines, excellent sailing characteristics, and superb craftsmanship. Hunt's influence extended beyond design to boat building techniques and marine engineering principles.
