Alcort

Alcort Inc. was an American boat manufacturer founded in 1956 in Waterbury, Connecticut, best known for creating the iconic Sunfish sailboat. The company name combines founders Alex Bryan and Cortlandt Heyniger's names. Their revolutionary Sunfish (1952) became the most popular recreational sailboat ever built with over 500,000 units produced. Alcort also produced other successful small boats including the Sailfish, Super Sailfish, and Force 5. In 1969, AMF Corporation acquired Alcort, continuing production of their popular designs. The company's legacy lies in making sailing accessible to millions through simple, affordable, and fun boats that introduced generations to the sport.
