Edson I. Schock
Edson I. Schock (1928-2009) was an American boat designer and businessman who founded numerous successful sailing companies. He created the Lido 14 dinghy and founded companies including Schock Boats, Santana Yachts, and Wavelength. Schock's Lido 14 became one of the most popular training and racing dinghies on the West Coast. He also developed successful production yachts through his various companies, always emphasizing performance and quality construction. Schock's business acumen and design skills helped establish Southern California as a major center of sailboat manufacturing, and his influence on American sailing extended beyond design to industry development.
