Alan Warwick

Alan Warwick was a legendary New Zealand naval architect whose innovative designs revolutionized yachting, blending architectural precision with maritime passion. Trained as an architect, he pivoted to boat design in the 1960s, creating over 500 vessels that spanned affordable production sailboats, high-performance cruisers, multihulls, superyachts, and commercial craft. His work emphasized seaworthiness for extreme conditions like the Tasman Sea, while prioritizing owner comfort, speed, and emotion—"boats live and breathe," he famously said. Founding Warwick Yacht Design in 1980, his firm became globally renowned, serving clients from Middle Eastern royalty to corporate fleets. Awards included the 2012 International Superyacht Design Award, 2013 World Superyacht Awards, and 2013 ShowBoats Design Awards. His legacy thrives through son Bruce, who leads the firm, producing bespoke yachts up to 200 feet.
