Jack Holt
Jack Holt (1912-1995) was a highly influential British dinghy designer who created numerous successful racing classes. Working primarily in the post-war period, Holt designed popular classes including the Mirror dinghy, GP14, Graduate, and many others that became mainstays of British sailing. His designs emphasized affordability, ease of construction (many were designed for amateur building), and excellent sailing characteristics. The Mirror dinghy, designed for home construction, became one of the world's most popular training boats. Holt's influence on British dinghy sailing was profound, creating boats that introduced generations to competitive sailing.
