CSY
CSY (Caribbean Sailing Yachts) was a yacht manufacturer based in Tampa, Florida, that produced heavy-displacement cruising sailboats from 1969 to 1988. Founded by Peter Schmidt, CSY built boats designed for serious offshore sailing, featuring full keels, bulletproof construction, and traditional styling. Popular models included the CSY 33, 37, 44, and 55-foot designs. CSY boats were known for their exceptional seaworthiness, comfortable motion in heavy weather, and ability to carry substantial loads for extended cruising. Many CSY owners completed circumnavigations and other long-distance passages, testament to the boats' offshore capabilities. The company helped establish Florida as a center for cruising yacht construction.
