David Sadler

David Sadler (1929-2012) was a highly respected British yacht designer whose boats achieved remarkable success in ocean racing. Working primarily from the 1960s through the 1990s, Sadler designed numerous successful offshore racers including multiple Admiral's Cup winners and Fastnet Race champions. His most famous design was Contessa 32, which became one of Britain's most successful offshore racing yachts and remained popular as a cruiser-racer for decades. Sadler also designed the Sadler 25, 29, and 34 production boats built by Russell Marine. His designs were characterized by excellent seaworthiness, balanced performance, and the ability to excel in both racing and cruising applications. Sadler's influence on British yacht design and offshore racing was significant and long-lasting.
