Sabre Yachts (USA)

Sabre Yachts is a renowned American yacht builder based in South Casco, Maine, celebrated for its craftsmanship in both sail and power vessels. Founded in 1970 by designer Roger Hewson, the company initially focused on producing high-quality fiberglass sailboats, starting with the iconic Sabre 28, which emphasized performance, seaworthiness, and luxurious interiors for coastal and offshore cruising. Over the decades, Sabre expanded its lineup while maintaining a commitment to hand-laid fiberglass construction and attention to detail, earning a reputation as one of the finest yacht builders in the US. In 1989, they diversified into powerboats, and by 2012, sailboat production ceased to concentrate on luxury Downeast-style motor yachts (38–58 feet), though the company continues to support its sailboat heritage through owner resources and potential for revival if market demand grows.
As of January 2026, Sabre does not produce new sailboats, with all current models being motor yachts like the Sabre 45 Salon Express and Sabre 58 Salon Express, slated for spring 2026 deliveries.
