Yankee 24 Seahorse
Description
The Yankee 24 Seahorse (also known as the Seahorse 24, Yankee Seahorse 24, or Yankee 1/4 Ton) is a compact, trailerable racer-cruiser from the early 1970s, built by Yankee Yachts Inc. (Santa Ana, California). Designed by Robert Finch (who contributed to the hugely successful Catalina 27), it was marketed as a 1/4-ton IOR (International Offshore Rule) contender—light, responsive, and fun for club racing or coastal daysailing/cruising. Production was limited (likely low hundreds at most), making it rare today, with only a handful of well-documented examples surviving. It's part of Yankee Yachts' lineup of solid, performance-oriented boats (similar to the Yankee Dolphin 24 by Sparkman & Stephens, Yankee 26/28/30). The Seahorse replaced the Dolphin 24 in Yankee's smaller range around 1972, shifting to a more modern fin-keel-with-swing-keel (centerboard) setup for better shallow-water access and trailerability while keeping good upwind performance.
