Westerly 22 Nomad
Description
The Westerly Nomad 22 is a classic British pocket cruiser built by Westerly Marine Construction Ltd. in the UK from 1967 to 1969, serving as an updated and improved version of the original Westerly 22 with a longer, higher coachroof for increased interior volume and a more spacious layout. Designed by Denys Rayner (also known as Commander Rayner, Westerly's founder and chief designer), it retains the twin-keel configuration for shallow draft and the ability to dry out upright on tidal flats or beaches, while offering a practical, forgiving sailing experience suitable for family coastal cruising or short-handed use. The boat is known for its solid fiberglass construction, modest but balanced performance, and enduring appeal among small-boat enthusiasts, though its higher cabin profile and deck layout were sometimes criticized as less elegant than the original Westerly 22.
