Watkins 23
Description
The Watkins 23 is essentially the Helsen 22 built under new ownership after Watkins Yachts of Clearwater, Florida, acquired the molds from Jopie Helsen in late 1973. First launched in 1974, Watkins made only minor cosmetic and hardware changes (different portlights, slightly revised interior joinery, and a Watkins logo on the sails), but the hull, deck, rig, and swing-keel arrangement are identical to the original Helsen 22. Over 400 were built before production ended around 1984, making it one of the more numerous 23-foot trailerable cruisers of its era.
