Vindo 28
Description
The Vindö 28 (sometimes listed as Vindö 28 or Vindo 28) is one of the foundational models from the Vindö yard (Nötesund Varv AB) in Sweden, marking the start of their renowned leisure sailboat range. It was first built in 1961 (initially in wood, with some later GRP transitions in the yard's evolution), designed in-house by Carl Andersson (son of founder Carl Andersson Sr.). This 26-footer (often rounded to 28 ft in naming) was a milestone for the yard—sparking expansion and establishing Vindö's reputation for high-quality, seaworthy small cruisers before the GRP shift in 1965. It's a classic, slim-lined Scandinavian sloop with traditional full keel (or modified long keel in builds), emphasizing stability, comfort, and ease of handling for coastal and occasional offshore use. Early examples were wooden (mahogany on oak frames), with later ones incorporating GRP hulls while retaining wood superstructures/teak accents for that signature "built like furniture" Vindö feel.
