Vindo 32
Description
The Vindö 32 (also spelled Vindö 32) is a classic Swedish cruising sailboat from Vindö (Nötesund Varv AB), representing a key step in the yard's transition to fiberglass (GRP) production while preserving their reputation for premium craftsmanship and seaworthy designs. It was introduced as a successor to the Vindö 30, with first builds in 1973 (some sources cite 1976 for early GRP examples; production continued into the 1980s, with hundreds built overall). Designer: Carl Andersson (in-house at Vindö; some references note collaboration or input from John H. Lindblom on later Vindö evolutions, but the 32 is credited primarily to Andersson). It draws from traditional Scandinavian workboat influences—emphasizing stability, comfort, and practicality in a compact, moderate-displacement hull. The boat features a long keel (or modified full keel) for excellent tracking and protection, a masthead sloop rig, and often mahogany/teak wood superstructure/decks combined with GRP hull for durability and that signature "built like furniture" Vindö elegance.
