True North 34
Description
The True North 34 is a robust fiberglass sailboat designed by Stan Huntingford and built by Windship Marine in Canada starting in 1974. Production details are sparse, but it's a rare bluewater cruiser with variants including a kit-built Noon Ocean 34 in Taiwan and a Tradewind 34 in North Vancouver. Featuring a long keel with transom-hung rudder for superior tracking and stability in heavy seas, and a cutter rig for versatile sail plans, it's engineered for long-distance ocean passages with a focus on seaworthiness over speed. The double-ended hull offers classic lines with moderate overhangs and a wineglass transom. Interior layout includes a V-berth forward, enclosed head, U-shaped galley, saloon with settees converting to berths (sleeps 4-5), and a quarter berth aft, all finished in teak for a warm, traditional ambiance. Auxiliary power is a Yanmar diesel (typically 30-40 hp).
