Tartan 42SD

Description

The Tartan 42SD (Shoal Draft variant), designed by the legendary firm Sparkman & Stephens, was produced by Tartan Marine from 1980 to 1984, with 34 hulls built across the Tartan 42 series (most featuring the Scheel shoal keel). This masthead sloop is a heavy-displacement bluewater cruiser blending offshore stability with coastal accessibility, via the Scheel keel's 4.96 ft draft—sleeping 6–7 in a classic teak interior, and celebrated for its robust construction, balanced sail plan, and timeless seaworthiness.
