Tartan 30 Tall Rig
Description
The Tartan 30 Tall Rig, designed by the prestigious firm Sparkman & Stephens (S&S #2016), was produced by Tartan Marine in Painesville, Ohio, from 1970 to 1978, with 606 hulls built across the Tartan 30 series (Tall Rig as an optional configuration, not separately tallied). This masthead sloop variant enhances the standard model's performance with a taller mast (extra 3 ft), increased sail area for superior light-air acceleration, and deeper draft with added ballast for stability—making it a responsive racer-cruiser that sleeps 4–5 in a practical teak interior, ideal for coastal racing or family day sails.
