Tartan 27
Description
The Tartan 27, designed by the legendary firm Sparkman & Stephens (design #1617), was produced from 1961 to 1980 by Douglass & McLeod (initially) and Tartan Marine, with a total of 712 hulls built—a record for the model that cemented its status as a pioneering fiberglass cruiser-racer. This keel/centerboard masthead sloop (with optional yawl rig) offers timeless balance for coastal cruising and racing, featuring a spooned bow, internal lead ballast (post-1967), and a compact teak interior sleeping 4–5, making it a durable, trailerable classic with enduring appeal.
