Tanzer Craft Nutmeg 24

Description

The Nutmeg 24 is a classic Canadian trailerable sailboat designed by William Shaw as a versatile, family-oriented coastal cruiser and racer. It's a small recreational keelboat known for its sturdy construction, balanced performance, and ease of trailering, making it suitable for weekend escapes, club racing, or day sails with 2-4 crew on lakes or protected bays. First introduced in 1964 and built by Tanzer Industries (also known as Tanzercraft) in Dorval, Quebec, until the company's bankruptcy in 1986, around 100-200 units were produced (exact numbers unconfirmed). The design evolved from Shaw's earlier wooden prototypes—the 1955 Oriental Mercy and the Shaw 24—and was featured in the July 1964 issue of Popular Boating. A near-identical variant, the Hughes 24, was later built by Hughes Boat Works using the same molds.
