Tanzer 29

Description

The Tanzer 29 is a classic Canadian sailboat designed by the French firm Joubert-Nivelt as a performance-oriented coastal cruiser/racer with a spacious beam, efficient rig, and practical layout for couples or small families. It's a small recreational fin-keel sloop known for its speed, stability in moderate conditions, and solid fiberglass build, making it suitable for club racing, weekend overnights, or day sails on lakes, bays, or near-coastal waters. The design, which shares DNA with the Tanzer 25, emphasizes balance between agility and comfort. First introduced in 1986, production began that year by Tanzer Industries in Dorion, Quebec, but the company's bankruptcy in May 1986 halted it after a limited run (around 50-60 units, based on known hull numbers).
