Tanzer 16

Description

The Tanzer 16 is a classic Canadian sailboat designed by Johann Tanzer as a stable, family-friendly daysailer that's also well-suited for racing. It's a small recreational dinghy known for its simplicity, speed, and forgiving handling, making it ideal for beginners and experienced sailors alike. Originally launched in 1963 as the Constellation 16 before being renamed the Tanzer 16, it was manufactured by Tanzer Industries in Canada until the company closed in 1986, with around 1,900 units produced. A variant, the Overnighter 16, was introduced in 1964 with a small cuddy cabin for overnighting, and about 550 of those were built. After the closure, the Tanzer 16 Class Association acquired the original molds, though it's unclear if any additional boats were produced afterward.
