Super Scamper (Model 115 or 101)

Super Scamper (Model 115 or 101)

Description

The 11' Scamper (more precisely known as the Super Scamper, model 115 or similar variants like model 101) by Formex Corporation was a vintage late-1960s to early-1970s board boat / sailing dinghy produced in Indiana. Formex Corp., based in the state (with references to manufacturing and advertising in Indiana newspapers from the era, e.g., Nappanee Advance-News in 1974 highlighting "SUPER SCAMPER SAILBOATS From FORMEX CORPORATION" as fun, family-oriented boats that car-top easily), specialized in lightweight, foam-cored plastic boats and recreational gear during that period. the Formex Super Scamper was an early-era unsinkable board boat similar in concept to the Sunfish, Snark, or other simple, affordable sailing surfboards/dinghies popular for beginners, kids, or casual lake sailing. It was marketed as a "sailboat board sailing" type, often described as a windsurfer-like or board boat where you'd wear a bathing suit and expect to capsize frequently—fun, forgiving, and easy to right.
