Spindrift 12 (Also 12c For Centerboard)
Description
The Spindrift 12, designed by Graham Byrnes of B&B Yacht Designs, is the largest model in the Spindrift series of lightweight, stitch-and-glue plywood sailing dinghies (9, 10, 11, and 12 feet). The centerboard variant is the standard configuration for the Spindrift 12, as opposed to the daggerboard used in smaller models like the Spindrift 11. The Spindrift 12 is a versatile daysailer and yacht tender, offering a spacious cockpit for family outings (up to 4 people) or gear-heavy trips, with excellent sailing, rowing, and motoring capabilities. It prioritizes stability and ease of use, making it ideal for lakes, bays, and coastal waters. Unlike the smaller Spindrifts (9N, 10N, 11N), it does not offer a nesting version due to its size. With over 1,500 Spindrift plan sets sold globally, the Spindrift 12 is popular among DIY builders and yacht clubs for its quick rigging (~7-10 minutes), affordability, and performance in winds up to 20 knots.
