Sovereign Antares 17

Description

The Sovereign Antares 17 is an American trailerable sailboat designed by the Sovereign Design Group as a lightweight daysailer and pocket cruiser, suitable for solo or small family use on small lakes, bays, or protected coastal waters. Introduced in 1987 by Sovereign Yacht Co. (Custom Fiberglass Products) during the late 1980s trailerable sailboat market, it emerged as a refined version of the earlier Sovereign 17 (1980), sharing the same hull mold but with a redesigned deck for improved aesthetics and usability. Production was limited (exact numbers unknown, estimated <100 units), ending shortly after 1987 due to shifting market demands. It was marketed as an affordable, fun entry-level boat for beginners, with a keel/centerboard (CB) variant advertised for shallow-water versatility.
