Skye 51 Ketch
Description
The Skye 51 Ketch is a heavy-displacement bluewater cruising sailboat designed by F. Michael Kaufman and Robert Ladd (Kaufmann & Ladd naval architects) and built by Mao Ta Shipyard in Taiwan beginning in 1980. This classic ketch represents the golden era of Taiwanese yacht construction, combining robust "overbuilt" construction with sophisticated design principles to create a capable long-distance voyager. Production was limited, with sources indicating approximately 18 boats were built during the early 1980s production run.
