Sidewinder
Description
Sidewinder (often called the Sidewinder 16 or MFG Sidewinder) is a popular American 16-foot (LOA 15'6"–16') fiberglass daysailer/dinghy designed in the late 1960s by British designers Rod MacAlpine-Downie (J. R. Macalpine-Downie) and Dick Gibbs. It was built primarily by MFG Boats (Moulded Fiberglass Goods) in the USA, becoming the company's most successful model with well over 2,000 boats produced. Many are still actively sailed today as affordable, trailerable club racers or fun family day sailors, often found in good condition on the used market for a few hundred to a couple thousand dollars (complete with trailer and sails).
