Shpountz 44-40,
Description
The Shpountz 44-40 is a classic gaff-rigged wooden schooner designed by Daniel Bombigher (with some plans associated with Hervé Coutand) as part of the distinctive Shpountz series of bluewater cruising "marine homes." The name "Shpountz" comes from an old gypsy term for a wise fool who understands the winds, and the "44-40" is a playful reference (not literal feet or measurements). These boats emphasize comfort at sea, ease of handling by a small crew, shallow draft for gunkholing, and long-distance passage making.
