Seguin 44
Description
The Seguin 44 is an elegant 43'0" (13.1 m) heavy-displacement monohull sailboat designed by the legendary Sparkman & Stephens firm (Olin Stephens) and built by Lyman-Morse Boatbuilding in Thomaston, Maine, from 1980 onward, with 15 hulls produced as the flagship of their semi-custom Seguin series—sharing a basic hull mold with the related Seguin 46 (featuring a traditional counter stern) but customized per owner specs for deck layouts, rigs, and underbodies. Inspired by the need for high-end, seaworthy sailboats in the 30–50 ft range, the series began with hull #1 Hob Nob in 1980, mentored by Rod Stephens, and evolved into versatile blue water performers known for their stiff, dinghy-like underbody, exceptional stability, and speed off the wind, blending cruiser comfort with racer capability for shorthanded or full-crew sailing across oceans or shoal waters like the Bahamas. Variants include the centerboard (CB) model for shallow draft (min 5'3" / 1.6 m) and traditional masthead (TM) or double-keel (DK) setups, all constructed with solid fiberglass hulls, lead ballast, and teak accents for enduring quality that has kept many examples in top condition after decades of global voyages. The spacious interior typically sleeps 6–8 in a warm teak-finished layout with multiple cabins, a U-shaped galley, nav station, and saloon, praised for liveaboard potential and sea-kindly motion,
