Seawolf Watkins 25
Description
The Seawolf 25 (also known as the Watkins Seawolf 25 or Watkins 25 under the Seawolf branding) is a compact 25-foot fiberglass monohull cruising sailboat that originated as the Watkins 25, designed by the Watkins Design Team and built by Watkins Yachts in Clearwater, Florida. Production of the Watkins 25 ran from 1983 to 1989 (with first boats noted around 1985 in some records), during which approximately 183 boats were constructed; in 1986, Watkins Yachts was purchased by the McLaughlin Body Company, after which the sailboat line—including this model—was renamed Seawolf, and later examples were marketed or badged as Seawolf 25s before the company wound down operations around 1989. The hull was allegedly derived (with major modifications, including a new deck and coachroof) from the older Columbia 24, featuring solid fiberglass construction with an integral shoal-draft fin keel (standard 2.5 ft draft; a rare deep 4 ft version was offered to a few customers), internal lead ballast, and a spade rudder. The design was subsequently sold and evolved into the Com-Pac 25.
