Seafarer 48 Yawl
Description
The Seafarer 48 Yawl is a rare, classic offshore cruising yawl designed by the legendary Sparkman & Stephens (design #1956) and built in fiberglass by Seafarer Yachts in Huntington, New York, USA (with some production at Hughes Boatworks in Canada). Introduced at the 1969 New York Boat Show—where it was dubbed "Queen of the Show" as one of the largest sailboats ever displayed—only fewer than 5 examples were produced in 1969, making it an exceedingly scarce bluewater vessel and the precursor to the Hughes 48 and Northstar 48. This masthead yawl features a fin keel with skeg-hung rudder for balanced tracking, raked stem, and counter stern, emphasizing seaworthiness, speed, and downwind stability via the divided rig. With a heavy displacement and high ballast ratio, it offers stiff, comfortable motion for long passages (elevated comfort ratio), accommodating up to 8 in a spacious teak interior (multiple cabins, U-galley, nav station, and en-suite heads).
