Description
The Seafarer 37 is a classic American offshore cruiser-racer sailboat designed by McCurdy & Rhodes as a refined evolution of the earlier Seafarer 36 and 38 models, built by Seafarer Yachts in Huntington, New York, USA. Produced from 1980 to 1982, approximately 20–30 examples were constructed, featuring a fiberglass hull with balsa-cored deck, a fin keel with skeg-hung rudder for protected steering and balanced tracking, raked spooned stem, and reverse transom. This masthead sloop emphasizes seaworthiness, speed (PHRF ~135 for competitive club racing), and comfortable coastal or moderate bluewater passages, with a moderate SA/D for responsive handling in 10–20 knots and a high ballast ratio for stiffness in chop. The teak-trimmed interior sleeps 6 (V-berth forward, U-galley, nav station, saloon settees converting to doubles, quarter berth aft, and enclosed head with shower), offering ~6.25 ft headroom and ample storage. Known for its sea-kindly motion (moderate comfort ratio) and solid hand-laid construction.
