Description
The Seafarer 31 Newport Sloop (also known as the Seafarer 31 MKI) is a classic American offshore cruiser-racer sailboat designed by William H. Tripp Jr. and built by Seafarer Yachts in Huntington, New York, USA. Produced from 1968 to 1974 (with an estimated 50+ examples constructed), it features a fiberglass hull with a fin keel and skeg-hung rudder, raked stem, and transom stern, emphasizing speed, seaworthiness, and light-air performance through a generous sail plan. This masthead sloop offers a compact yet functional teak-trimmed interior sleeping 4–5 (V-berth forward, saloon settees, galley, and head), making it ideal for couples or small families on coastal or moderate bluewater passages. Renowned for its responsive handling, balanced helm, and stiff motion in chop (moderate SA/D and D/L), it's forgiving for intermediate sailors but shines in 10–20 knots.
