Seafarer 24 Centerboard
Description
The Seafarer 24 Centerboard, also known as the Sail 'n Trail 24, is a trailerable coastal cruiser-racer designed by McCurdy & Rhodes and produced by Seafarer Yachts (Huntington, New York) from 1974 onward, emphasizing shallow-water versatility with its swing centerboard and kick-up transom-hung rudder for beaching or trailering while retaining solid performance for club racing or family outings. Built in fiberglass with a skeg ahead of the rudder, it offers accommodations for up to five in layouts featuring a V-berth forward, convertible dinette, galley, enclosed head, and optional nav station, powered by a 3–6 hp outboard; the centerboard version is slightly more tender in heavy air due to higher ballast placement (only 207 lb of lead in the board itself) but maintains self-righting stability and a PHRF of around 243. Out of production after the 1980s (fewer than 100 built), it's prized for affordability and seaworthiness.
