Schock 34 PC
Description
The Schock 34 PC (Performance Cruiser) is an American racer-cruiser sailboat designed by Bruce Nelson and Bruce Marek (Nelson/Marek) and built by W.D. Schock Corp. in the USA from 1986 to 1990. Approximately 40 hulls were produced before it went out of production. It was developed as the more cruiser-oriented sibling to the lightweight racing Schock 34 GP (Grand Prix), featuring a heavier hull (by about 1,850 lb / 839 kg) for better motion comfort and stability, plus a shorter mast (by ~2 ft / 0.61 m) for easier handling and reduced power in stronger winds. The design prioritizes a blend of competitive performance (good under PHRF or club racing rules) and practical cruising amenities, with a spacious interior, solid build quality (often described as "over-built" by owners), and seaworthy characteristics suitable for coastal passages or occasional offshore use. It's a fiberglass monohull with a fin keel (standard) or optional wing keel (WK variant for shallower draft), spade rudder (internally mounted), masthead sloop rig, and a reputation for being fast, balanced, dry, and comfortable—owners note excellent craftsmanship, no major blistering issues in many cases, and enjoyable sailing in moderate conditions.
