Santana 2023
Description
The Santana 2023 is a family of compact, trailerable sailboats designed for both racing and cruising, particularly suited for lakes and protected coastal waters. It features a lightweight fiberglass monohull with water ballast for easy trailering, making it popular among day sailors and weekend cruisers. The design emphasizes simplicity, quick rigging, and shallow-draft capability for beaching or launching from ramps. Introduced in 1993 by W.D. Schock Corp in the United States, the Santana 2023 was designed by Steve Schock as an evolution of the 1978 Santana 23D, which shared the same hull lines originally penned by W. Shad Turner. Production ran until 2001, with key modifications including a fractional sloop rig, an updated deck layout, and the addition of 1,300 lb (590 kg) of flooding water ballast (which is drained for transport, reducing trailering weight to about 1,580 lb).
