Santa Cruz 70

Santa Cruz 70

Description

The Santa Cruz 70 is the legendary 68-foot ultralight displacement sailboat designed by Bill Lee and built by Santa Cruz Yachts starting in 1985. This extraordinary yacht represents the pinnacle of Lee's revolutionary ULDB philosophy and stands as one of the most influential racing designs of the last 50 years! The Santa Cruz 70 is essentially an IOR-friendly version of Merlin, Bill Lee's groundbreaking 66-foot design that changed everything for downwind racing. While Merlin wasn't designed to the International Offshore Rule, the Santa Cruz 70 adapted Lee's revolutionary ULDB principles to work within the rating system. With only 19 boats built, the Santa Cruz 70 represents one of the most exclusive and historically significant racing yachts ever created. Each example is a piece of sailing history.
