San Juan 7.7
Description
The San Juan 7.7 (initially marketed as the San Juan 26 PC) is a fractional sloop designed by Don Clark and built by the Clark Boat Company in Kent, Washington, USA, from 1979 to 1983. As the successor to the San Juan 26, it was engineered for spirited racing and light cruising, with a wider beam and more sail power for better performance in varied conditions. Approximately 150–200 units were produced, making it a cult favorite among performance-oriented sailors on a budget. Its fiberglass hull, fin keel, and spade rudder deliver agile handling, though early models had some chainplate issues (common to the era). Variants include a shoal-draft keel (3.25 ft) and later deeper keel (4.5 ft) with added ballast for improved stability.
